Acting Now Prevents Disappointment in the Future
Video Transcribed: I want to talk to you about not allowing your ex to create a fait accompli. And what I mean by that is a situation where what she wants will inevitably happen because of circumstances. My name is Brian L. Jackson. I am a father’s rights attorney in Oklahoma with dads.law.
And we’re going to talk today about ensuring your ex can’t put you in a position where her getting her way becomes inevitable. This can come up in situations like if she relocates and doesn’t follow the relocation statute.
And it’s allowed to sit out there and fester long enough that she can argue, “Well, status quo,” or where she denies you visits, and it goes on long enough where she can argue status quo. That’s why it’s important to move quickly.
Unfortunately, because of the court’s calendar, sometimes that’s difficult. But you do want to move that situation quickly. And really, what’s important is to get the appropriate pleadings filed as quickly as possible, whether it’s an objection to relocation, temporary orders hearing, or a motion to enforce.
Don’t sit on your rights, guys. Because if you do, she can make that status quo argument that can bite you in the ass, and you may lose. So the long and short of it is do not let her create a fait accompli by your inaction. Get something filed and get it filed quickly.
And if you are in a situation like that, you need legal advice. You need a good lawyer. If you have questions about any of that, if you ever need a Tulsa child support attorney or a Dad’s Child Custody Lawyer in Tulsa, Ok, you can find one at Dads.Law.
