Keeping Control of Your Case: Mediation and Settlement Options
Hey guys, good afternoon. One of the things I wanted to touch base and give you a little bit of information on is, you know, how do I keep my case out of the court system? Men in general tend to be peacemakers. They tend to not want to engage in a lot of pettiness. Um, they don’t want to engage in a long-term battle. They simply want to find a resolution. And so one of the ways that we can do that is to do an alternative, um, resolution, um, resources, um, that can be mediation.
That can be settlement conferences. There are different ways. Most oftentimes mediation is a route that you can go. Mediation is a process whereby you and your attorney, if you have one, um, your spouse and her attorney, if they have one, sit down at different conference rooms and a third party, who’s the mediator tends to go back and forth and helps everyone resolve. In my experience, mediations are somewhat 80 to 85% successful and are a tool that I would encourage men to use, to kind of take some of the, you know, time restraints, in a case, shorten those a little bit, make sure that a resolution is reached sooner rather than later.
Consider Mediation for a Resolution
And again, because you’re controlling that process and what that resolution looks like. So anytime you can ensure that, you know, the benefit, the wellbeing of your kiddos is, in your control and something that, you know, a judge isn’t deciding where you have no control, in my opinion is always beneficial.
