Try To Prevent Future Issues from Arising
Video Transcribed: So, guys, I want to discuss why you should quickly turn your financial information over in child custody cases. My name is Brian L. Jackson. I am an Oklahoma father’s rights attorney here with dads.law, where fathers are not disposable. And today I want to talk to you about your financials. And guys, I know most of you guys don’t want to do this, and I know why because it feels like it’s her trying to get into your pocket. I get it. I do.
Here’s the thing. Under the local rule, you have to turn that over. You have to. You have to turn over your paycheck stubs. You have to turn over your last year’s taxes. You have to turn over your bank statements.
You have to show proof of income. It’s mandatory. It’s statutory. It’s also required by local rule. And if you want to get anywhere in custody litigation, you got to turn that stuff over.
So the best thing you can do for yourself is to have it ready. Have it ready to go when you meet with your lawyer. And don’t argue about it because you’re going to get ordered to turn it over anyway.
And the more time you drag out not turning that stuff over, the better the odds are that it will delay your case and cost you money on little procedural crap you don’t need to spend. So have that stuff ready right away.
The good idea is to have your attorney serve that on her, along with your petition or your motion to modify or whatever it is that they’re going to file on your behalf, so she’s got it, and there’s no question you turned it over. If you have questions about any of that, if you ever need an Oklahoma child support lawyer or a Men’s Child Custody Lawyer in Tulsa, you can find one at Dads.Law.
