The Importance of Following Court Orders
Hi, my name is Clint Hastings. I’m an attorney at Dads.Law and I focus on father’s rights here in Tulsa. Today I want to talk to you a little bit about the importance of following court orders.
Believe me, through the years I’ve had a lot of people who do not want to follow court orders. Now this is a complete detriment to your case if you refuse to do simple orders such as turnover income information, turnover business information, turnover titles or deeds or anything else that may be part of your divorce.
Compliance with Court Orders
At some point you will be ordered to turn those over. Income information and taxes is supposed to be turned over early in the divorce by statute. So the Oklahoma statutes direct those to be exchanged by both parties and those are used to do things like compute child support, to allow each side to prepare a case for alimony if they’re choosing to do that or defend a request for alimony.
So it’s very important and a lot of people feel like their privacy is being probed into and they feel like the other side doesn’t need that information but nevertheless with few exceptions you’re gonna turn over the requested information.
Consequences of Non-Compliance
If you don’t you can be compelled by additional orders to do so and if you still don’t comply with it then you’ll be sanctioned which means you will be punished by a fine or even restricted from using documents and information in your court final trial.
So it’s very important and you know you have to listen to your attorney’s advice on this stuff. I hope that helps. My name again is Clint Hastings at Dads.Law. You can reach out to our website to contact me for more information.
