Communicate With Your Lawyer
Hi, I’m Tulsa father’s rights attorney Clint Hastings. Guys, I need to make sure you understand something and do this. You have to tell your lawyer when you don’t understand the words he is speaking or when they were spoken in court. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had clients that, you know, I’m speaking fast, I’m explaining something, I’m talking about a 2012 statute and a 404 motion and this and that and the other, and they don’t understand what I’m talking about, but they nod their head like they do.
Or I talk to them about custody terms or visitation or the right of first refusal, which is an odd term in visitation. But I say these things in regards to an agreement we’re about to make or that they’ve even signed, and then later they say, well, I didn’t understand what that term meant. Well, you have to tell your lawyer to explain it.
Importance of Clear Communication
It is not a stupid thing to not understand terms that you shouldn’t understand. Your lawyer should try to use terms you can understand, but sometimes we get going and we don’t remember that you may not understand those terms. I hope that helps. Always do that, guys. And look over my website. Feel free to let me know if you have other questions.
Remember, clear communication is essential in any legal matter. If you find yourself confused or unsure about anything, don’t hesitate to reach out to your lawyer for clarification. Your understanding of the proceedings is crucial to the success of your case.
