Dress for Success
Video Transcribed: How should you dress to go to your court hearing? My name is Brian L. Jackson. I am a father’s rights lawyer in Tulsa here with Dads.Law where fathers are not disposable and I want to talk to you guys today about dressing for court. This one may seem obvious or not, but it’s important to look the part.
There’s one thing you want to keep in mind when you’re dealing with judges, they don’t know you. It’s human nature to judge people based on appearances. So you don’t want to look like the stereotypical guy that they’re going to see there. So dress professionally, wear a button shirt like you see me wearing, wear a tie. But if you own a suit and tie, jacket, wear it, you want to look professional because the last thing you wanted them to see you as is some trashy dude that’s just trying to get out of child support. So dress professionally.
A couple of other things. Get a nice pair of dress shoes. Don’t wear sneakers in a suit. Don’t wear excessive cologne, do take a shower, wear deodorant, shave your face if you’re going to be clean shaven, if you want to grow facial hair out, make sure it’s neat and doesn’t look grungy or scruffy. You want to look professional. Hair length is up. I’m always a firm believer in you do you. But just make sure your hair is clean, neat, and doesn’t look straggly.
Stuff may sound like it’s really obvious kindergarten stuff, but it’s really important because these judges do not know you. So you want to be really careful not to give the wrong impression.
If you have any questions about that for a family law attorney in Oklahoma, then I would encourage you to go to Dads.Law where fathers are not disposable.
